millay
or was it elizabeth bishop? i dont remember
has a poem about her lover leaving ["i lost a house, kingdoms" or something]
i learned it in poetry class
we were debating if the lover died or if just left her
i think it was about the lover deserting her
i told the prof
"even if millay was here telling me that the poem is about death it still doesnt change my opinion"
he told me "that's good, because you know what she wrote it a few months after her lover died"
that's called Reader Response theory i think.
doesnt matter how the author wrote it.
